Applied Data Trends (ADT) recently announced that George M. Howard has been promoted to vice president and chief operating officer.
ADT brought Howard on board in January 2011 as director of IT services. In that position, he was responsible for the company's new IT services business unit as well as IT platform planning and an overhaul of ADT's software and hardware. Under his leadership, ADT has transitioned from serving primarily a government contract client base to providing IT solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, as well.
In his new role, Howard's responsibilities will expand beyond IT services to include operations management and business development for the entire company as it increases its B2B offerings.
"It was exciting starting a new business unit, and it's nice to be seeing progress within the company," said Howard. "I've always enjoyed managing and doing operations work, so I look forward to advancing ADT's mission in this new capacity."
A native of Huntsville, Howard has worked in the IT field for more than 16 years. He has experience in the government sector, private sector and international markets through his service as CFO of Vixi Inc. as well as project-based work with JVYS, CAS-ITT and VA Vocational Rehabilitation. Howard is an industry expert in the field of data retention and business development, including extensive work with data backup and continuity of operations strategies.
